We build relationships with people and organizations, in Canada and overseas, who share an analysis that poverty is caused by structural inequalities among and within nations, and who are working to promote fundamental change in their communities and countries. Job description We are seeking a bookkeeper who can work 24-32 hours/week in a one-year contract to support the Finance Cluster during the implementation of a new finance system. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Finance Cluster. Conditions of work The work will be done from our Ottawa office, with core hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Recompense is $31.54/hour, plus 4 per cent vacation pay and 4 per cent in lieu of insurance benefits. Other conditions of work will be determined and finalized at the time of signing of the contract. Bookkeeping responsibilities Accounts Payable – vendor data management, A/P entry and processing completed weekly. Donation entries – entries in the finance systems occur weekly and monthly. Experience with CRMs an asset Bank reconciliation – monthly Credit card reconciliation – monthly – high volume Prepare bank deposits – bi-weekly Filing and organizing Timesheet reconciliation Other tasks as required Demonstrated qualifications Commitment to social justice and feminist principles Strong bookkeeping skills related to data entry and reconciliations Clear knowledge of GAAP, good analytical abilities and capacity to think and work strategically Ability to multitask and navigate a quick-paced work environment Ability to work in a team and independently Experience working with the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Finance software experience required Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and/or SAGE Intacct an asset Accounting experience working in the charitable sector an asset Languages Very good writing and speaking skills in English Good written and oral communication skills in French an asset Start date: Flexible between May 21st and May 29th, 2024 Application process Inter Pares is committed to working within an anti-racism, anti-oppression and anti-colonial framework, and recognizes that systemic privilege and oppression have strongly shaped staffing patterns in international cooperation.
