Inter Pares in Canada
In Canada, Inter Pares aims to strengthen the participation of Canadian groups and individuals in processes of shared learning and action to raise awareness of social justice issues, and to help bring about social change here at home. Where appropriate, we facilitate links between our overseas counterparts with activists in Canada on issues such as women's rights, resource extraction, sustainable agriculture and genetic diversity, food sovereignty, civil liberties, and refugee and migrant rights.
In order to share the knowledge and experience of our counterparts and raise relevant issues for debate in Canada, we publish the Inter Pares Bulletin four times a year and mail it to 8,000 people across the country. In recent issues we have addressed many of the key themes of our work, such as the struggle for democracy in Burma and justice in Latin America, giving as an act of solidarity and the concept of security. Inter Pares also produces occasional papers and articles on specific topics to reach an even larger and more diverse audience.
As a Canadian social justice organization, Inter Pares builds relationships with like-minded organizations in Canada and collaborates with these groups to build capacities and increase policy effectiveness. These relationships enable Inter Pares to link international issues and counterparts with issues and activists in Canada. Inter Pares also works within a variety of voluntary sector coalitions in Canada concerned with social justice and development work.
