What you can do
Thank you for your interest in supporting the work of Inter Pares! Just as Inter Pares develops long-term relationships of common cause with people and organizations around the world, we seek to nurture the same quality of relationships with our supporters here in Canada. There are many ways in which you can contribute to our work.
What you can do today
Donate to Inter Pares
Social change is brought about by ordinary people all around the world. The social justice work of Inter Pares and our colleagues is sustained and supported by the generosity of thousands of individual Canadians like you, who have made a choice to believe in themselves and the world. Making a financial contribution is a way for you to act on your conviction that a better future for all is possible. Click here to make a gift now to Inter Pares.
Engage in our campaigns
Because part of our work aims to engage the Canadian public and the Canadian government around various issues, there are opportunities for you to take part. While Inter Pares is not a 'campaign organization,' we do occasionally initiate or participate in campaigns that arise from our work on the ground as part of our policy advocacy and public engagement. Join in our latest campaign; to learn more about past campaigns and action alerts, click here.
Subscribe to our e-newsletter
Our electronic newsletter is an easy way for you to stay abreast of the work of Inter Pares and to share it with friends and colleagues. In addition, you will sometimes receive event notices and notices of opportunities to act. Click here to subscribe.
Spread the word on Inter Pares and create an opportunity to socialize among like-minded people
Inter Pares has been strengthened over the years by the initiative of supporters who have connected us to others who share our commitment to social justice. You too can help us in these ways.
Inter Pares invites you to introduce us to others who may be interested in social justice and peace - people among your friends, family, and groups and organizations, or in your place of worship, neighbourhood, or workplace.
- Pass on your copy of the Inter Pares Bulletin to friends and urge them to support Inter Pares (contact us for extra copies or direct them to www.interpares.ca)
- Forward your e-newsletter to friends and encourage them to subscribe
- Hold a screening of one of Inter Pares' videos for your friends, and let them hear directly from our counterparts about the work we do together (contact us for a free copy)
- Host a dinner party with friends to tell them about Inter Pares (contact us for literature you can share with them)
- Use a community event as a benefit for Inter Pares (concerts, readings, street sales...) and share our literature
- Honour loved ones' social justice values through a gift to Inter Pares in their name during the holidays, to celebrate a special event, or on the occasion of their passing, and send a card or e-card to accompany the gift
Amplify your giving while spreading the word
- Recommend Inter Pares for community outreach funds at your place of worship or your workplace
- Double the value of your gift to Inter Pares by participating in your workplace's gift-matching program, and invite your colleagues to join you
What you can do for the future
Help Inter Pares plan for the future and leave a legacy of your commitment to social justice values:
- Leave a gift to Inter Pares in your will in the form of a bequest (either a percentage of an estate or a specific amount of cash, stocks or bonds)
- Donate securities (stocks, bonds, bills, warrants, futures, or mutual funds), which will also enable you to not pay capital gains tax (which you would pay if you were to sell the securities and donate the proceeds), while receiving a charitable receipt
- Designate Inter Pares as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, RRSP, or RRIF
- Establish a gift annuity if you are over 70, which makes a gift to Inter Pares while giving you guaranteed income payments for life
These gifts and other kinds of "planned gifts" take into account your financial situation and the tax benefits of giving, as well as the lasting contribution that is made to Inter Pares' social justice work.
For more information on planned gifts, please click here or contact us. We also recommend consulting a legal or financial planner.
